The igaal: is a black wool double coil chord it serves to hold the ghoutra the head-cloth worn underneath in place. It is an integral part of the traditional wear of Arab men. As this chord is a signifier of a man’s strength, pride and nobility. In my practice I set on to dismantle the power of this object and to return to its original form - a line to create new forms with.
